Troy Deeney is a name that certainly has substance, with the former Watford striker now suggesting that Arsenal don’t form a guard of honour for Liverpool when they visit Anfield next week.

Liverpool host the Gunners next Sunday, but the former Watford forward believes the ritual is over the top and is “embarrassing” for teams to stand and applaud their opponents.

“Like so many things in modern football, it’s something I can never understand, to be honest. I think it’s ridiculous. คาสิโนออนไลน์ UFABET ฝากถอนรวดเร็ว เริ่มต้นเล่นง่าย “It’s not a sign of respect. And It’s a disgrace for teams to line up and applaud the champions. “It’s like Chelsea, Arsenal and every other team who have to play the champions for the rest of the season are saying ‘well done, we are so pleased you beat us.'”

“When my Watford team lost to Manchester City in the FA Cup final we had to stand and applaud as they went up to receive their medals. ” I’ve never been in a situation where I had to do a ‘guard of honour’ in my top-flight career. Watford had never played a team that had won the title. ” But if I were in that situation “ I would say no, honestly,” he said. “That’s what Arsenal, Liverpool’s closest challengers this season, should do next Sunday.”
